Titanic

RMS Titanic was a passenger cruise liner that hit a huge iceberg two years before World War One and sank on its very first voyage. It sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early hours of 15th April 1912

Over 1500 people lost their lives due to the disaster and the fact that there were not enough lifeboats and the boats they had were not filled full enough. Survivors were picked up by a ship that heard the distress call which was called the Carpathia. The Carpathia arrived in New York, the Titanic's destination, three days later and broke the news to the world that the ship had sunk.

These shoes belonged to a little toddler on the Titanic. He sadly drowned. The people who came to the rescue on Carpathia couldn't bare to leave his body in the sea so took the little boy to America and buried him. His grave can still be visited today.
